Meet The LexVet Mobile Surgery Team

Joanne Hughes, DVM
Surgeon
I graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Since then, I have pursued advanced surgical training through a variety of specialty internships, an orthopedic fellowship at Washington State University, and countless hands-on advanced training courses to further my skills and abilities. What I love most about being a veterinary surgeon is that I get to keep learning and growing, all while helping families get the care they need for beloved pets. Outside of work, I like traveling with my wife, Ericka, skiing, game nights, and plotting ridiculous costumes and activities for our ragtag crew of dogs and cats.

Marianne Hoover, RVT
Lead Surgical & Anesthesia Technician
I have been working in the veterinary field since 2002. I graduated from Professional Veterinary Assistant School in 2008 and became a licensed Registered Veterinary Technician in California in 2009. I pride myself in taking care of each of my patients using my breadth of knowledge and experience and the care and compassion I would show my own pet. It’s so fulfilling to know that I’ve helped a family’s beloved pet at the end of each workday. In my free time, I play miniature golf. Over the years, I’ve gone to most of the mini golf courses in So Cal, but I have my favorites. At home, I have a Doberman named Zitrone, who keeps me on my toes, and a cat named Kirby, who loves to surprise me with “gifts” to show me that he is a mighty hunter.

Anesthesia Technician Team
We have a rotating staff of veterinary technicians who monitor anesthesia for us and assist in the OR during surgery. These experienced technicians help us out on their days off from their jobs in primary care veterinary clinics. Working with us, they learn advanced anesthesia administration and monitoring techniques that they can bring back to their regular jobs to elevate the standard of care in local Lexington clinics.
