TPLO is an ACL repair technique commonly used in dogs weighing 25 lbs or more. In some cases, it is also used in dogs weighing less than 25 lbs that require a stronger than average repair, either due to anatomy or activity level.
This surgery is a little less invasive then TPLO, however it is also not as sturdy of a repair. It is reserved for very small dogs (weighing less than 10 lbs) or for sedentary dogs weighing up to 25 lbs.
This surgery re-establishes proper kneecap tracking to keep it from popping out of joint. Patellar luxation has been described as the most common congenital malformation in dogs. Small-breed dogs are affected ten times more than large-breed dogs.
This surgery is used to treat variety of problems within the hip. It is most commonly used in cats and in dogs weighing up to 60 lbs. It may be appropriate for certain larger dogs as well.
